Piping

Piping can be a time consuming venture but it is a great finishing touch for any pillow and in the end well worth the effort. There are plenty of pre-made piping's to choose from but making your own is often times the best way to get a truly custom look for your project. The first step to making your own is to cut bias strips from the fabric. One of the best tutorials I have ever found for creating bias strips to make your own piping can be found here:

http://www.patemeadows.com/Cutting-Bias-Strips-for-Piping-and-Banding_ep_61.html

The instructions are easy to follow and the photos provide an excellent example of how to do it.

Once you have your strips cut and sewn together you will need to attach it to your project. Follow the instructions at this link:

for attaching the piping.

They make it look so easy but if you are a beginner it may take a little practice.
